Located in front of the dense woodland, the hostel creates a lively centre for visitors to the area. The building plays with the idea of multiple courtyards as it is in the surviving ruins, to generate a diverse range of lighting and spatial qualities. With a large roof spanning over the multiple building blocks of the Hostel, the structure is punctured at selected points, allowing light to flood the interior space. An existing tree withing the building has been kept, which becomes the centre point of the courtyard, and is celebrated by a large opening in the curved roof. Guest rooms are given the beautiful view over the rice terrace to the west, while the library faces south to the main road.
